iPad, I do!

Read!

"People laughed at us for using the word magical.
But you know what? It turned out to be magical."
- Steve Jobs

I've had a Sony E-Reader since it first hit the market in 2006 and I absolutely loved it! I mean, come on, the ability to carry hundreds of books anywhere and everywhere? It's an avid reader's nirvana! For travel and for everyday a portable E-reader device is as essential as your passport and your lipgloss.

But the Sony E-Reader is limited in scope, tempermental, needs a booklight in order to read (and even then the lighting is poor and you have to read past the glare - sigh), and it's later versions malfunction to the point of inusability with distressing regularity. When my e-reader last malfunctioned, I became so frustrated that I @mailed the book to my iPad, opened it my PDF Reader Pro app (to save it to my iPad) and I have not looked back since! iPad, I do!

iPad 2 (@ $400)

The iPad 2 is much larger than the Sony E-Reader (roughly the size of a trade sized paperback as opposed to the reader's mass market paperback size - please excuse the reader-nerd-speak ;-} And it's a tad heavier too - but the pros clearly overshadow the few more ounces in weight and the need for a larger purse...

*It's technophobic friendly - the touchscreen is amazingly responsive and perfectly intuitive

*You can adjust the brightness of the backlight, turn the page with a short swipe of your finger, and 'pinch' the print larger or smaller as you see fit - and this 40something Diva really appreciates the larger screen.

*And though this is a small thing, everything is in bright, crisp, clear color - love that!

Oh and did I mention the tres cool accessories?...

No, I have not given up on my Sony E-Reader - my daughter (Sage) uses hers everyday and she loves it. But for this avid reader and traveler - my iPad 2 quite simply is magical.  Okay, my work here is done. Now get to reading!

Vivre! Rire! Aimer!
