"Flowers seem intended
for the solace of ordinary humanity."
- John Ruskin
Yes, sadly, summer is coming to an end - sigh. But there is still one place where you can revel in the lovely bountiful colors of summer - at your local horitcultural company and/or botanical garden. Check out this national Botanical Gardens Directory (a top 20 list); and the Garden Web Directory (to localize your search). Of course, you can always just Google: Botanical Gardens + your state.
And when you go, don't forget to be a little fancy - pack a picnic; fill a cooler with a bottle of bubbly, water and fresh squeezed juice; and don't forget a blanket and maybe a tiny iPod player. You'll find that most of these gardens have a lawn for such wonderful fanciful things, maybe you can even sit among the blooms! Bring your Mr./Ms. Gorgeous, the perfect romantic interlude, bien sur. Can you think of a better way to bid adieu to summer?
Day Four: Spend an hour or two in a luxuriantly blooming garden.
