Epipremnum Aureum also known as Silver Vine
"Here I come creeping, creeping everywhere..." - Sarah Roberts Boyle
For as long as I can remember, my mother has had this huge plant in her bathroom. It's literally the size of a good sized ottoman and is at least 30 years old. It's just a common houseplant, but it is so beautiful. Its verdant green, heart shaped, yellow stripped leaves speaks to the ever present romantic in me; and just looking at it soothes my mind.
When I began to design and create my Atelier, of course I had to have a Silver Vine in my little Sanctuary. I had finally found a use for the gorgeous vintage bottle, stamped with an Old World Rose print, that I had purchased in a little antique shop years ago - the perfect finishing touch.
The Silver Vine is not flashy or complicated - some water and a sunny spot are all it needs. It's an elegant and hardy plant and it's little presence brings a much appreciated bit of organic life into the room. It's funny, I can't remember the last time I saw a houseplant in someone's home; can you?
I love my funky little Silver Vine. So, on this Show and Tell Friday, I encourage you to buy a little plant for your home. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how nice it is to have a bit of living green in your home.
