SistahDivas in Paris

Serena and Venus Williams
French Open Women's Doubles Champions 2010

"Some people say that I have an attitude - maybe I do. But I think that you have to. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does
- that makes you a winner right there."
- Venus Williams

Saturday, 5 June 2010 - The Sisters Williams won the French Open Women's Doubles Championship! On Monday, they will be ranked #1 in Women's Doubles and Serena will be ranked #1 in both Women's Doubles and Women's Singles (she's only the 6th woman in history to earn such an accolade). Venus is ranked #2. Moreover, with yesterday's win, the Sisters Williams have completed a grand slam - they've won the last 4/4 grand slams (Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2009, and the Australian Open and the French Open in 2010).

The Sisters Williams in all their DivaGoddess glory - closing the deal!
Saturday, 5 June 2010

There is a long and passionate love affair between African American women and Paris (Josephine Baker, Anna Julia Cooper, etc., etc., etc.) and that love is fully returned. Serena bought a fabulous Paris apartment a few years ago. And the Sisters Williams visit often.

Venus Can-Can

Venus generated a lot of American controversy wearing a tennis costume that she designed herself, in ode to the Parisien Can Can dancer and the sensual eroticism of Paris. While the prudish American press and public tittered, Parisiens had no problem with Venus' showing her sexy SistahDivatude. Commentators, in French papers and 'sites declared her: powerful, sensual, gorgeous, erotic, powerful, feminine, and bold. Yes Venus is my favorite sister Williams, but she's fierce nevertheless!

So I unabashedly revel in this latest torrid love affair between all that is SistahDiva and all that is Paris. But how could Paris not love the Sisters Williams? Tres Magnifique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh, yet another something wonderful to LOVE about Paris.

Vive le Parisien cassonade!
(long live the brown sugar Parisien!)

Vivre, de rire, de l'amour,

Temple
