"Those who have experienced Paris have advantage over those who have not. We are the ones who have glimpsed a little bit of heaven, down here on earth." - Deirdre Kelly

Fete de l'ete

It's a smile, it's a kiss,
It's a sip of wine, it's summertime.
- Kenny Chesney

In honor of Mr. Gorgeous' 45th birthday, along with a group of friends, we decided to celebrate with good food, wine and music...

Ravinia is the oldest outdoor music festival in the United States and it's only a few miles from my stateside home. Running from June to September, Ravinia attracts some 600,000 music and good time lovers from all over the world. It's a good thing we got there early.

Besides the music, the best thing about this festival is that attendees are invited to bring in their own food and wine. We took it one step further, pulled out all the stops...

Fruit, vegetables, fromages , charcuterie, bread, preserves, seafood, wine, beer and champagne

And we placed it all in an outdoor room we constructed:
low tables, chairs, silverware & china, candles.
And flowers (bien sur!)

We laughed, talked, sipped, nibbled, sang happy birthday and danced. Oh how we danced! That was the best part - dancing with my Mr. Gorgeous beneath the stars. It felt like Paris. Simply perfect.

Vivre! Rire! Aimer!
